Confirmation Retreat - “Join the Journey”

March 3-5, 2017

Designed for students in the fifth grade and above, the “Join the Journey” Confirmation Retreat will provide churches of all sizes an opportunity to connect with others through worship, study, and fellowship.

This event maxes out each year with 500 confirmands from around the South Georgia UM Conference and beyond. There will be four worship sessions that walk through the liturgical seasons and focus on prevenient, justifying and sanctifying grace, to conclude with a communion service. There are three workshops where confirmands will learn about the 3 simple rules, crazy UM words (and a sense of the UM organization), and what they will need on their journey of faith. There are times for Holy Clubs (church group time) and a special spotlight called "A Holy Mystery" which gives confirmands a deeper understanding of Holy Communion. It is such a powerful weekend!

If your church is interested in bringing a group, you can find more details by clicking here which includes a link to register or contact Suzanne Akins, Event Coordinator at (912) 638-8626 / suzanne@sgaumc.com

January Adventure in August

August 11-13, 2017

January Adventure IN AUGUST 2017 will take you further down the road in Emerging Christianity. "January Adventure IN AUGUST" is a new offering with just one speaker, and a more leisurely schedule, allowing one the opportunity to enjoy both the pleasure of coastal Saint Simons Island and stimulating Emerging Christianity presentations.

The speaker this year is Rev John Churcher who is coming from the U.K. He is a recently retired Methodist Minister. His "Permission to Speak" website helps to share progressive Christianity beyond the confines of a traditional church pastorate. He is the author of Setting Jesus Free and Dying to Live. John's preaching, consultancy and workshop-based activities are taking him around the UK, overseas, and several events in the US. He remains a trustee of PCN Britain and is available to support and encourage PCN Britain and similar groups.
