From South Georgia Plankton to African White Rhinos
An event for Older Adults
An opportunity to meet and greet, up close and personal cheetah, white rhinos, Asian bengal tigers, cape buffalo, okapi, Greby’s zebra and many other endangered safari animals living in large naturalistic enclosures as we visit the 600 acre WHITE OAK CONSERVATION CENTER. White Oak is a premier facility for wildlife breeding, conservation research and scientific training. Cameras welcome. Photography encouraged! AND, not to be forgotten are the tiniest sea creatures of the Georgia coast which we will also acquaint you with. Truly an exceptional Autumn Adventures experience!

Laycock Bible Study Series

October 2016

There will not be a Laycock Bible Study event held at Epworth in 2016. However, we have already set the dates for 2017. Please SAVE THE DATE for October 9-12, 2017. Dr. Laycock is recruiting Bible Study and Worship Leaders now for next year as this special event will now take place every other year here at Epworth By The Sea. We will announce the leadership as soon as it is known so you can plan to join us then.

“Memory Keepers – Journey into the Geechee Culture”
Immerse yourself in a week long exploration of the Geechee culture along the Georgia coast. Visit the Gullah Geechee Center where participants will also participate in a volunteer mission project, Sapelo Island and other locations in the golden isles. You are cordially invited to come to the coast for our first "Saint Simons Island Storytelling Festival" featuring nationally known, professional storytellers! Four renowned storytellers have accepted the invitation to participate. Be prepared to laugh, shed a few tears and enjoy their stories.

A fourth-generation, nationally recognized storyteller in the Affrilachian tradition of joy and love. Home-Fried Tales are folktale adaptations, spooky tales and origi- nal stories rooted in Lyn’s family multicultural Affrilachian storytelling traditions. These stories are often enriched with call and response, choral response, rhythm and rhyme, humor and heart. Lyn is a teaching artist with the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education, workshop facilitator with the Ohio State based Collaborative Ini- tiative of The Kennedy Center. Her books Beyond the Briar Patch and Affrilachian Tales have won the Anne Izard Storytellers’ Choice Award. She is a writer, record-ing artist with award winning CDs, and a certified Laughter Yoga leader.
